Your happiness can be affected in many different ways. Other people often have a large impact on our mood and emotions. However, the one with the most power over our mental state is ourselves!

In this blog, you’ll be learning about ways to change your habits, routines, and mindset to help yourself become a happier person.

Distance yourself from the toxic people in your life.

There are always going to be toxic people in your life at some point, but how you deal with these people can greatly affect your overall happiness.

“A toxic person is anyone whose behavior adds negativity and upset to your life (Toxic Person: Signs to Look For, author unknown).”

A few toxic traits are as follows; you feel like they are manipulative, they make you feel self conscious, you feel defensive around them, or they never apologize even when it’s obvious that an apology is needed.

Allowing toxic people remain close to you will take its toll on your self image and your image of other people. By distancing yourself from this type of person you are allowing yourself to become more confident and saving yourself from the stress and emotional toll these people can have on you.

Spend time with your real friends.

The people we choose to surround ourselves with have a large impact on our thoughts and decisions, therefore having a large impact on our happiness.

Your real friends should be people that encourage you, make time for you, you know you can trust them, and make you feel confident and comfortable. They also want what’s best for you so they can help you make decisions that will be to your benefit. Spending time with people you enjoy is scientifically proven to make you happier.

When stressed it is a good idea to spend time with these friends. Talking to your friends about your problems can offer up new approaches and solutions to the problem, in turn eliminating the stress. On the other hand it is also alright to use this time with loved ones as a way to get your mind off of the problem.

Optimistic people with a positive view on life can also be very beneficial parts of our lives. As stated before the people around us have a great influence on our thoughts and decisions. Therefore by surrounding yourself with positive people, you can also gain a more positive outlook on life.
